Distribution. First record of Ventrifossa mucocephalus in the WSA. Collected from off Bahia at depths from 705 to 801 m. It was described from northern Cuba (23°05’30” N, 82°35’00” W), and is known from off the Atlantic coast of Florida, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean (Cohen et al. 1990).
