Mecistoscelis Reuter, 1891: 132 (as new genus). Type species: M. scirtetoides Reuter, 1891, monobasic. Diagnosis. Relatively thin and elongate bug (total length ranging between 5 to 8 mm, total width approximately 1 mm). Labium reaching beyond metacoxa (Lansbury 1963 contra Carvalho 1955). Pilosity of two first antennal segments, femora and tibia short. First antennal segment about as long as head, pronotum and scutellum together (Distant 1904, for M. scirtetoides). Second antennal segment longer than the first. Third antennal segment the longest. Fourth antennal segment about as long as the second. Ostiolar peritreme yellowish. Cuneus obviously longer than wide at base. Left paramere with long setae subapically on its dorso-outer margin. Body of right paramere narrow, its apex bifid.
Distribution. Caroline Islands (Palau, Yap), China, India, Indonesia (Java), Japan, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Philippine Islands (Luzon), Sri-Lanka, Taiwan.
