Material examined. CHINA: Gansu Province: 1 Ƌ, 1 ♀, Douba, Kang County, 1100 m, 4.vi.1995, leg. Aisihaer Maimaiti . Shaanxi Province: 1 ♂, Yangling, 450 m, 26.vi.1986, leg. Houhun Li ; 1 ♀, Ningshan, 880 m, 17.vi.1987, leg. Houhun Li ; 1 ♀, Xinjiashan, Feng County, 1600 m, 14.vii.1988, leg. Houhun Li .

Diagosis. Adult (Fig. 28) with wingspan 14.5−16.5 mm. This species is similar to E. shenae (Li et Zheng, 1998) in the forewing with scattered ochreous yellow scales. Encolapta catarina can be separated by the forewing with short ochreous streaks alternated with white in distal 2/3 of the costal margin, and the valva with distal part knife-shaped in the male genitalia (Fig. 42). In E. shenae, the forewing has short ochreous to dark brown streaks alternated with white in distal 3/4 of the costal margin (Fig. 29), and the distal part of the valva is elliptical in the male genitalia (Fig. 43).
