HOLOTYPE: AMNH 118354, adult female, collected at Barbacoas, sea level, 01.21N, 78.09W (Paynter, 1997), Nariño, Colombia, on 13 August 1912, by W.B. Richardson.

COMMENTS: In the original description, Chapman cited the AMNH number of the holotype and listed the specimens he had measured. There are also a few additional specimens in the same series that would have been accessible to Chapman but may not have been measured. These are also included as paratypes, as is a specimen from Guineo, Rio Calima, Colombia, recorded by Hellmayr (1911: 1122) and included in flavirostris by Chapman. The affiliation of this species with the Icteridae is uncertain and more than one species may be involved (See AOU, 1998: 656, and Fraga, 2011: 747).
