Vines, herbaceous or woody, petioles with two glands or no glands, leaf blades with or without glands, often variegated, sometimes bilobed, with small flowers with a plicate operculum and small berries, the latter usually purplish black. Seeds punctate-foveolate or transversely sulcate.
