Myopsocus insularis n. sp.

(Figs 133–144)

Diagnosis. Belonging to the assemblage of species that do not present the forewing with the scalloped apical margin, unlike these it presents phallosome elongated ring-shaped, pointed basally and apically rounded, aedeagus medial bar-shaped narrower than external parameres and hinged to the phallobase (Fig. 138). Endophallus membranous. Subgenital plate subrectangular with apical lobe funnel-shaped and a pair of apical setae (Fig. 143).

Male. Color. Head (Fig. 135) pale brown with dark brown spots on front and postclypeus. Compound eyes black, ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents. Legs: coxae brown, trochanter creamy, femur brown with a subapical band white-cream, tibia white-cream with brown apical band, tarsus 1 white-cream with a basal band brown, tarsi 2 and 3 brown. Forewing (Fig. 133) spotted, with brown spots darker on cell R 5 and discoidal cell (M). Hindwings (Fig. 134) smoked with brown veins. Hypandrium dark brown. Epiproct and paraprocts little pigmented.

Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head (Fig. 135): H/MxW: 1.29; compound eyes grandes, H/D: 1.64, with interonmatidial setae; vertex slightly emarginate, V-shaped; IO/MxW: 0.46. Outer cusp of lacinial tips little wide, with four denticles; Mx4/Mx2: 1.29. Forewings (Fig. 133): L/W: 2.44. Pterostigma: lp/wp: 3.33, areola postica wider than tall, apically angled: al/ah: 0.94. Hindwings (Fig. 134): l/w: 2.54. Hypandrium (Fig. 137) trapezoidal, rounded distally, with three pairs of small teeth and an apical middle projection with two setae. Paraprocts (Fig. 136) with short sclerotized process directed downward and slight curvature and a short apodeme directed upwards; sensory fields with 20 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct (Fig. 136) semioval, with sclerotization on the top edge.

Female. Color. As in males. Paraprocts, epiproct and gonapophyses slightly pigmented.

Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head (Fig. 141). H/MxW: 1.18; Vertex somewhat sinuous, slightly above upper level of compound eyes, these smaller than in males, H/D: 2.67, widely separated IO/MxW: 0.68. Outer cusp of lacinial tips little wide, with four denticles; Mx4/Mx2: 1.25. Forewings (Fig. 139): L/W: 2.56. Pterostigma: lp/wp: 2.89, postic areola almost as tall as wide, apically angled: al/ah: 1.16. Hindwings (Fig. 140): l/w: 2.61. Paraprocts (Fig. 142) subrectangular, with short outer margin, distally and apical margin with rows of setae and macrosetae; rounded external lateroapical angle; sensory fields with 18 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct (Fig. 142) subtriangular, broadly rounded apically and basal margin slightly convex medially, distal field with setae and four macrosetae, apical margin with few setae. Subgenital plate (Fig. 143). Gonapophyses typical to family (Fig. 144), V1 apically acuminate, V2 distally acuminate, almost three times the length of V1, V3 oval and with setae and macrosetae as illustrated.
