Current name: Primula elatior (L.) Hill ( Primulaceae).

Note: Greuter (in Candollea 44: 566. 1989) argues that this is a new combination for P. veris var. elatior L. 1753, made in 1754, and the correct name for what has been called P. elatior (L.) Hill. However, this is disputed by Brummitt & Meikle (in Watsonia 19: 181-183. 1993), who point out typographical inconsistencies between different copies of the thesis, and they argue that no new combination is made until 1765.
