Current name: Paeonia mascula (L.) Mill. ( Paeoniaceae).

Note: Meikle (Fl. Cyprus 1: 69. 1977) indicated P. mas . Lobel, Pl. Stirp. t. 832 (1581) as “probably” the type but his uncertainty means that this cannot be accepted as a formal typification.
