Primula vitaliana Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 143. 1753.
"Habitat in alpibus Pyrenaeis & Italicis." RCN: 1143.
Basionym of: Aretia vitaliana (L.) L. (1774) .
Lectotype (Kress in Hegi, Ill. Fl. Mitt.-Eur., ed. 2., 5(3): 2248d. 1966): Herb. Burser XIII: 154 (UPS) .
Current name: Androsace vitaliana (L.) Lapeyr. ( Primulaceae).
Note: Schwartz (in Feddes Repert. 67: 23. 1963) designated material in LINN (presumably 198.15) as the type, but this was received from Arduino and was not in Linnaeus’ possession until after 1753. This was noted by Kress, who rejected this type choice in favour of Herb. Burser XIII: 154 (UPS). Ferguson (in Taxon 18: 302. 1969) designated the cited plate from Donati as lectotype but Kress’ choice has priority.
