Current name: Prunus cerasus L. ( Rosaceae).

Note: Ghora & Panigrahi (in Nair, Fasc. Fl. India 18: 16. 1984) indicated 640.21 (LINN) as type, but although it is annotated “cerasus” by Linnaeus, it also carries the number “2” (associating it with P. virginiana L.), and is evidently of North American origin (conflicting with Linnaeus’ "Habitat in Europa"). It does not appear to be original material for P. cerasus .
