Agnetina capitata (Pictet) .

This species is distributed from the Ozarks east to the Appalachian Mountains and north to eastern Canada (Stark 2004; DeWalt et al. 2010). It tends to inhabit cooler waters than its close relative A. flavescens (Walsh), with which it has often been confused, especially in the nymphal stage (Frison 1935). It appears that this species may still persist in northern Illinois only in the Pecatonica River. Grubbs (2004) tentatively listed this species from Indiana and suggested that it might be present in northern tier counties in the state.
