Leuctra tenella (Provancher, 1878)
was originally described from the vicinity of Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Ricker (1952) subsequently designated a lectotype from Old Forge, New York. Leuctra tenella is the sister species of L. carolinensis (Grubbs 2015) and generally exhibits a more northeastern distribution. However, this species has been reported from Virginia (Kondratieff & Kirchner 1987), Great Smoky Mountain National Park in North Carolina (Parker et al. 2007) and nearby locations in Haywood and Macon counties (Grubbs 2015). This species was collected from a 3 rd order stream in the Blue Ridge Physiographic Province of northern Georgia.
