DISTRIBUTION: Cameroon, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Zaire.

STATUS: IUCN - Indeterminate as P. r. liberiensis .

SYNONYMS: leightoni Pocock, 1908; poensis Mivart, 1882 .

COMMENTS: Rosevear (1974) raised leightoni to the specific level. Poiana records are few and scattered and recent studies placed leightoni as a subspecies; see de Beaufort (1965), Michaelis (1972), and Kingdon (1977).
