Glyptothorax burmanicus Prashad & Mukerji 1929 ZBK: 184, pl. 7 (fig. 3); fig. 5. Type locality: Sankha, a large hill-stream, midway between Kamaing and Mogaung [Irrawaddy drainage], Myitkyina dist., Upper Myanmar [Burma]. Holotype: ZSI F10877/1.

Distribution: Irrawaddy Salween drainages, China and Myanmar (Prashad & Mukerji, 1929; Chu et al., 1999).

Remarks: This species has been considered a synonym of G. cavia, but it is a valid species (H. H. Ng, Pers. comm. 2005).
