Type Locality: N Angola.

Vernacular Names: Little Collared Fruit Bat.

Synonyms: Myonycteris (Myonycteris) collaris Andersen 1907; Myonycteris (Myonycteris) leptodon Andersen 1908; Myonycteris (Myonycteris) wroughtoni Andersen 1908 .

Distribution: Guinea and Sierra Leone to Uganda, south to Angola and NW Zambia; Bioko (Equatorial Guinea).

Conservation: IUCN / SSC Action Plan (1992) – Not Threatened. IUCN 2003 – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Subgenus Myonycteris . Includes leptodon and wroughtoni; see Hayman and Hill (1971), Peterson et al. (1995), and Bergmans (1976, 1997). Koopman (1994) recognized torquata, leptodon, and wroughtoni as subspecies, but see Bergmans (1997).
