Type Locality: Indonesia, Maluku, Pulau Dullah (closely associated with Pulau Kai Kecil), 12 km N Tual, near Taman Anggrek, 5°38'S, 132°44'E, sea level.
Vernacular Names: Keast's Tube-nosed Fruit Bat.

Distribution: Babar, Tanimbar, and Kai Isls (Molucca Isls, Indonesia); probably Timor and Flores (K. Helgen, pers. comm.).
Conservation: Described after completion of IUCN / SSC Action Plan (1992); IUCN 2003 – not evaluated.
Discussion: cephalotes species group. Originally described as a subspecies of albiventer, but recognized as a distinct species by Kitchener et al. (1995 c) and Bergmans (2001). Revised by Bergmans (2001).
