Genus Thanasimus Latreille

Thanasimus dubius (Fabricius): Introduced to southern and eastern Australia for control of Ips grandicollis (Eichhoff) ( Curculionidae: Scolytinae) during the 1980’s though reportedly failed to establish (Morgan et al. 1991). The only specimens I have seen in collections are voucher specimens from rearing programs. I know of no wildcollected specimens.

Distribution: Canada, U.S.A., Mexico (Corporaal 1950a).

Status: Non-native and absent in Australia (biocontrol agent with no evidence for establishment beyond release).
