Neopseustis archiphenax Meyrick, 1928: 404; Mutuura, 1971: 1129; Davis, 1975: 20 –21, figs. 1, 5, 7–10, 15,21–22, 35, 53, 55; Davis, 1997: 5.

Neopseustis archiphenax was described from Kangtang, Burma (= Myanmar), and the holotype is now deposited in the British Museum (Natural History). Unfortunately, it is impossible to identify this species from the genitalia because the abdomen of the specimen is lost (Davis, 1975). A male specimen in the collection of Smithsonian Institution from Sungpan (Jin’an County, A’ba State, Sichuan Province) has been considered conspecific with N. archiphenax, because of the similar size and maculation to the holotype. The genitalia of this specimen have two slender branches of lateroposterior process of anellus, which is similar to that of N. meyricki . Davis (1975) pointed out that the inner branch has a serrated edge, which differs from that of N. meyricki which is completely smooth. Nevertheless, the genitalia of our Taiwan specimen also possess serrated edge branches on the lateroposterior process of anellus (Fig. 16).
