Type species: Picobia locustella Skoracki, Bochkov and Wauthy, 2004, by original designation.

Diagnosis. FEMALE. Hypostomal apex tapering. Peritremes mouth-shaped. Setae vi situated anterior to level of setae ve. Propodonotal shield entire, bearing setae vi, ve, si, c1 and se or divided into 2 narrow lateral sclerites with setae si, se, and unpaired medial large sclerite with setae vi, ve, c1. Opisthonotal and genital lobes absent. Bases of setae 1a separated. Each pseudanal and genital setal series represented by 1 pair. Apodemes I with small thorn-like protuberances. Solenidia phi (φ) on tibiae I absent. Physogastric form with weakly enlarged idiosoma, bulb-shaped in outline.

Species included. Four species: Pipicobia glossopsitta (Skoracki et al., 2008), P. locustella (Skoracki et al., 2004), P. pyrrholaemus (Skoracki and Glowska, 2008) and P. terpsiphoni Glowska and Schmidt, 2014 .

Host range. Passeriformes ( Acanthizidae, Locustellidae, Monarchidae) and Psittaciformes (Psittaculidae) .

Distribution. Afrotropical (Gabon), Palaearctic (Poland), and Australian (Australia) regions.
