Host range and distribution. Monoxenous species associated with Alectoris rufa (Linnaeus) ( Galliformes: Phasianidae) in France (Skoracki & Sikora 2011).
Remarks. Although this species was has been originally described based on material collected from Alectoris sp. from Rwanda (Fain et al. 2000: 65), no bird species from this genus occurs in the African region. Because, all known species of Alectoris spp. are restricted in distribution to the Palaearctic, the Sino-Jappanese, or the Saharo-Arabian regions (Clements et al. 2014), this suggests that the Rwanda locality should be excluded from the distribution-list of this quill mite species. Due to these circumstances we designate the bird species Alectoris rufa as a type host and France as a type locality for C. alectoris .
