Discussion: Included in Rhizomyinae (Carleton and Musser, 1984; Musser and Carleton, 1993), recognized as a subfamily of Rhizomyidae (Chaline et al., 1977; Miller and Gidley, 1918; Flynn, 1990, and references therein), or as a subfamily of Muridae (Ellerman, 1941) .
