Canthidium variolosum Howden & Young, 1981: 88 [here transferred to the subgenus Canthidium]. Type locality: Panama: Panama: San Carlos: La Laguna, 4 km west of Hato del Volcán (“ Panamá, Las Lagunas, 4 km W Hato del Volcán”). Type material: Holotype male (CMNC—ex Howden collection); see full list of paratypes in Howden & Young (1981: 88). Distribution: Costa Rica and Panama (Solís & Kohlmann 2004).
