Canthidium opacum Balthasar, 1939: 133 [here transferred to the subgenus Canthidium]. Type locality: Southern Ecuador (“Süd-Ecuador”). Type material: Holotype unsexed (NMPC—ex Balthasar collection). Distribution: Ecuador (Martínez & Halffter 1986a).
