Canthidium (Canthidium) breve (Germar, 1823)

Copris brevis Germar, 1823: 103 [transferred to Canthidium by Harold 1867b: 82; here transferred to the subgenus Canthidium; see Bousquet (2016) for the publication year]. Type locality: Argentina: Buenos Aires (“ Buenos Ayres ”). Type material: Probably some syntypes at ZMHB—ex Germar collection. Distribution: Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, and Uruguay (Martínez & Halffter 1986a).

Canthidium lugubre Harold, 1867a: 39 [synonymized by Harold 1867b: 82]. Type locality: Brazil (“ Brasilien ”). Type material: Location of syntypes unknown.
