Discoid colony, hyaline, not clathrate, with a flattened star-like shape. Size variable, with 8–16 smooth-walled to microverrucate cells. Bifurcated cells at the periphery of the colony,with characteristic elongated processes. Internal cells with distinct morphology.Colonydiameter ca. 50–68µm(x55µm). Colony usually found with irregular folds in sediment due to its fragile structure. Ecological data: found in shallow freshwater environments such as lakes, marshes, and near deltas (Erdtman, 1969; Rosa & Miranda-Kiesslich, 1988; Lorscheitter,1989; Torgan & Hentschke, 2011).
