Perinereis cultrifera (Grube, 1840) species complex
Perinereis cultrifera . Fauvel 1932: 104 –106; Fauvel 1953: 206 –209, fig. 106a–l.
Material examined. Iran, Persian Gulf, Qeshm Island- Tola village, one specimen (ZUTC 6142). Habitat. Sandy- stony beach.
Remarks. The single specimen fits the general concept of species described as varieties of P. cultrifera by Fauvel (1932, 1953), which are now all considered distinct species (Hutchings et al. 1991). However, initial observations indicate that the specimen does not agree with any members of the species complex reported from the region (Wehe & Fiege 2002); it is certainly distinguishable from P. floridana (Ehlers, 1868), P. striolata Grube, 1878, P. obfuscata Grube, 1878, P. perspicillata Grube, 1878, P. helleri, and P. cultrifera (Grube, 1840) by the number and shape of paragnaths in Areas V and VI.
