Tachygerris cf. surinamensis Hungerford & Matsuda, 1958

(Fig. 12)

We have several males and females from Alajuela Province that agree well with T. surinamensis . However, because the known distribution of the species is restricted to northern Brazil and Suriname, and no specimens have been examined in two recent revisions of the genus (Morales & Molano 2009, Mondragón et al. 2017), our identification is provisional, pending confirmation. If confirmed, the first record from Costa Rica would represent a wide westward expansion of the range of this species. Our material was collected in the same type of habitats as those of T. opacus and T. quadrilineatus, in the Atlantic and Pacific slopes up to 876 m a.s.l.
