(Fig. 14)
Telmatometra whitei has a distribution similar to that of T. ujhelyii, from Mexico and Puerto Rico to Ecuador (Torre-Bueno 1908; Hungerford 1936; Drake & Harris 1937, 1941; Kenaga 1941; Drake & Hottes 1951a; Drake & Maldonado-Capriles 1954; Nieser & Alkins-Koo 1991; Padilla-Gil & Nieser 2003; Molano et al. 2005; Posso & González 2008; Buzzetti & Cianferoni 2011; Padilla-Gil & Pacheco-Chaves 2012; Padilla-Gil 2012, 2013a; Padilla-Gil & García-López 2013; Rueda & Mesquita-Joanes 2016; Molano et al. 2017a), and co-occurs with it in some localities. It was previously recorded from Costa Rica without a specified locality, and its presence in the country is herein confirmed based on specimens from Alajuela, Guanacaste, Limón, and Puntarenas provinces. In Costa Rica, the species is found in backwater areas of rivers, puddles close to rivers, and lagoons up to 800 m a.s.l.
