Generitype of Verbesina Linnaeus, nom. cons.

Current name: Verbesina alata L. var. alata ( Asteraceae).

Note: The Clifford material was proposed as the conserved type by Jeffrey (in Taxon 41: 595. 1992), subsequently recommended by both the Committee for Spermatophyta (in Taxon 43: 276. 1994) and the General Committee (in Taxon 43: 281. 1994). Olsen (in Brittonia 38: 364. 1986) was credited as being the typifier by Jeffrey in his proposal. However, Wijnands had already made the same choice.
