Microcaeculus andrei and the following species, M. monticolus, are both endemic South African species (Lawrence, 1939). Species of Microcaeculus are known to be predatory, feeding on Collembola (Otto, 1993), which they capture by lying in wait for prey to approach (Krantz, 1978). Both species encountered in this study were rare.
