Polytes cingulicornis Bergroth, nomen dubium (Fig. 115-116)
Polytes cingulicornis Bergroth 1904: 354; Schouteden 1904b: 50 (listed); Bergroth 1908: 142 (list-ed); Kirkaldy 1909: 286 (listed).
Comment. Bergroth's type, a female from Brazil, was not located. His description does not fit any existing species of Polytes . However, specimens from Brazil matching his description were examined. These specimens almost certainly belong in Tetyra, and P. cingulicornis probably belongs in the latter genus. That this species does not belong in Polytes is further supported by the fact that no other species of Polytes is found in Brazil (with the possible exception of P. obscurus), and Bergroth based his species on a female specimen. Females are rare in Polytes and are not known for most species.
