Morphostenophanes elegantulus Masumoto & Bečvář, 2008: 207 (type locality: Chiang Mai, Thailand), figs. 2, 7–9; Gao & Ren 2009: 308 (in introduction).

Type material examined. Holotype labelled: ‘Fang Chiang Mai Thailand, 25. VII. I994 leg. Native // Coll. Masumoto 2001 // Holotype Morphostenophanes elegantulus MAS. & BEČ’ (male, NSMT, Fig. 34G), examined through two photograph provided by Kimio Masumoto .

Comparative notes. Morphostenophanes elegantulus can be distinguished from other congeners of elegantulus -group by the major part of its elytra and legs colored dark red brown and strongly shortened female elytra.
