Diagnosis. Forewing length 8.0– 9.5 mm (Fig. 3). Hypatopa moriutiella is similar to H. plebis Adamski, 2013; the female genitalia of the two share an elongate tubular corpus bursae that lacks a signum. Hypatopa moriutiella can be separated from the latter by the ill-defined juxta, the phallus spherically dilated basally, the internal sclerite of the phallus curved in the distal 1/ 3 in the male genitalia (Fig. 11), and the eighth tergum with a darkly pigmented longitudinal median streak in the female genitalia (Fig. 19). In H. plebis, the juxta is well sclerotized, the phallus is not dilated basally, the internal sclerite of the phallus is broadly curved in the middle in the male genitalia, and the longitudinal median streak in the eighth tergum is absent in the female. Hypatopa moriutiella is also similar to H. silvestrella Kuznetzov, 1984 in the male genitalia, and the differences between them are given in the diagnosis of H. silvestrella .

Distribution. China (Beijing, Gansu, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Henan, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Ningxia, Qing- hai, Shanxi, Sichuan, Tianjin), Russian Far East (Primorskiy Territory).

Note. This species is recorded for the first time in China.
