Torunotum flavomaculatum Gierlasiński & Taszakowski sp. nov.

Diagnosis: Torunotum flavomaculatum Gierlasiński & Taszakowski sp. nov. is recognised by the following combination of characters: dorsum brown to yellowish with a blackish head with a clearly defined, rectangular, yellow spot situated between the eyes; pronotum evenly punctuated, yellowish with two dark L-shaped bands, calli well developed; scutellum yellowish, evenly punctuated, body length in male 3.28; scape short, in male 0.28x as long as head width, 0.58x as long as interocular distance; pedicel in male 1.53x as long as head width; vertex medially distinctly depressed.
Description:
Male: Body elongate-ovoid, length 3.3 (Fig. 3).
Colouration. Dorsum: brown to yellowish brown. Head: blackish with a clearly defined, rectangular, yellow spot between eyes. Eyes: blackish. Antennae: scape yellowish; pedicel yellowish with darkened apical part; flagellum brownish (Fig. 3A, B). Labium: all segments yellowish (Fig. 3C). Pronotum: collar medially stramineous; callosite region stramineous; disc mostly yellowish with two L-shaped dark stripes (Fig. 3A, B). Scutellum: yellowish (Fig. 3A). Hemelytra: brown to yellowish brown; clavus brownish; corium brown to yellowish brown; embolium stramineous; R + M dark red; cuneus stramineous, with a red triangular marking; membrane light brown, veins blackish (Fig. 3A). Thoracic pleura and metathoracic scent glands (MTG): propleuron, mesepimeron, mesepisternum and metepisternum in various shades of brown; metepisternal evaporative area in anterior part brown, in posterior part yellowish, peritreme ivory (Fig. 3C). Legs: all legs stramineous, the femora of the hind legs with a light brown band, apical part slightly coloured red (Fig. 3C). Abdomen: yellowish in the middle part, brown at the lateral edges (Fig. 3C).
Vestiture. Dorsum covered with yellowish setae. Eyes without setae (Fig. 4A, C). Antennae: scape with few short setae (Fig. 4C); pedicel with dense, straight setae (Fig. 3A). Pronotum: with short setae (Fig. 4A, D). Scutellum: with semi-erected setae (Fig. 3B, C). Legs: with sparse, straight setae, longer on femora, shorter on tibia.
Texture. Head punctate (Fig. 4C); pronotum punctate, except callosite region (Fig. 4A, D); scutellum punctate (Fig. 4A); hemelytra impunctate; clavus irregular punctate, base of R + M with a row of punctures; propleuron punctate (Fig. 4A).
Structure. Antennae: scape 0.27x as long as head width, 0.58x as long as interocular distance; scape and pedicel distinctly thicker than flagellum, pedicel 1.37x as long as head width, 0.79x as long as posterior width of pronotum. Male genitalia. Pygophore weakly asymmetrical (Fig. 5A), aedeagus with endosoma mostly membranous, multilobed (Fig. 5B), left paramere strongly C-shaped, sensory lobe swollen, with few short setae, apophysis sinuate with apex reflexed and expended (Fig. 5A, C–E); right paramere with lateral edges non-parallel, left side convex, without projection (Fig. 5F).
Measurements (in millimetres). Male (n=1).
Body. Length, clypeus–apex of membrane: 3.28; width: 1.38.
Head. Length (perpendicular view): 0.54; width, including compound eyes: 0.70; vertex width: 0.33; eye dorsal width: 0.18.
Antenna. Length of antennomere I: 0.19; II: 0.96; III: 0.18; IV: missing.
Pronotum. Mesal length: 0.56; posterior pronotal maximal width (straight): 1.22.
Scutellum. Anterior width: 0.59; mesal length: 0.45.
Hemelytron. Claval commissure: 0.49; heme length: 2.40; corium length: 1.38.

Biology: Unknown. The specimen was attracted to a light trap (bulb “MIX”- type 250 W, E40) in the rainforest (Fig. 6A, B).
Distribution: Torunotum flavomaculatum Gierlasiński & Taszakowski sp. nov. is known only from the type locality in New Caledonia (Fig. 1).
Etymology: The species is named after the yellow spot on its head, which contrasts sharply with the black head. The name derives from the Latin words " flavus ”, meaning yellow, and “macula”, meaning spot.
