Remark. Although P. eschscholtzi was dedicated to Johan Friedrich Gustav von Eschscholtz (Hope 1831), the spelling eschscholtzii was used in the original description and later by Laporte (1838), Candèze (1863) and Lacordaire (1857). Gemminger & Harold (1869) corrected the spelling to eschscholtzi and this spelling has been in use since then with exception of Bouwer (1991b) and Suzuki (1999). We deem this to be the correct original spelling in application of Art. 33.3.1. of the Code (ICZN 1999).
