Argyrogrammana amalfreda (Staudinger, [1887])

(Figs 9–10, 50)

A single male was collected in 2014 while perched on the underside of a leaf about six meters from the ground around 16:00h.

Apparently this species is known only from the type (Hall & Willmott 1995), and the specimen collected at the PNSD is the second record for the species in the last 125 years. As noticed by Hall & Willmott (1995), Brévignon & Gallard (1995) misidentify a new species described below as A. gallardi sp. nov. with A. amalfreda . In fact, the size of these species is similar; however, the large black areas on both wings upperside and the longer and larger subapical blue patch on forewing upperside of A. amalfreda can be easily used to distinguish it from A. gallardi sp. nov.
