Nomenclatural note. The Reynier herbarium is in AIX but no specimen of V. agrestis var. subabortiva was found there. The specimens in P came there from the herbarium Giraudias ex Ecole Normale Supérieure and the herbarium Dr. Guétrot. Reynier (1902) first considered the new taxon that he found to be a variety of V. agrestis without capsules. Later (Reynier 1905), he realized his mistake and recombined the name un-der V. filiformis, which was dispersed as cover of wine grapes from Georgia to southern France (Lehmann 1942). Veronica filiformis is a self-incompatible species, rarely setting seed and full capsules in the introduced area (Scalone & Albach 2012). Thus, there is no taxonomic value nowadays to this name.
