Triomicrus mirus Shen and Yin, new species

Type material (2 ♂♂, 15 ♀♀). Holotype: China: ♂, labeled ‘ China: Anhui, Yuexi County (岳西县), Yaoluoping N. R. (鹞落坪), Jinggangling (金刚岭), 30°00’18’’N, 116°07’14’’E, beech forest, mixed leaf litter, humus, sifted, 1273 m, 18.vi.2013, Dai & Peng leg.’ (SNUC). Paratypes: China: 1 ♂, 11 ♀♀, same data as holotype (SNUC); 2 ♀♀, labeled ‘ China: Anhui, Yuexi County (岳西县), Yaoluoping N. R. (鹞落坪), Jinggangling (金刚岭), 30°59’25’’N, 116°04’46’’E, beech forest, mixed leaf litter, humus, sifted, 1050 m, 17.vi.2013, Dai & Peng leg.’ (SNUC); 2 ♀♀, labeled ‘ China: Anhui, Yuexi County (岳西县), Yaoluoping N. R. (鹞落坪), Jinggangling (金刚岭), 30°58’38’’N, 116°06’59’’E, beech forest, mixed leaf litter, humus, sifted, 1650 m, 19.vi.2013, Dai & Peng leg.’ (SNUC).

Diagnosis. Antennomere XI with impression surrounding moderately prominent disc-like protuberance near base. Head lacking median vertexal carina. Pronotum smooth. Elytral subhumeral sulci long, reaching level of metacoxae. Profemora enlarged, protrochanters and protibiae lacking spur or spine, mesotibiae lacking denticle. Apical lamina of abdominal sternite VII composed of two complicated sclerites. Aedeagus with right paramere long, curved mesally, internal sac bearing several sclerotized spines, lacking hairy sclerite.

Description. Male (Fig. 12 A). Length 2.30–2.38 mm. Head longer than wide, HL 0.49–0.50 mm, HW 0.44– 0.45 mm, lacking median vertexal carina; lateral portions of frons relatively smooth; each eye composed of about 36 facets. Antennomere XI (Fig. 12 B–C) with impression surrounding moderately prominent disc-like protuberance near base, diameter of impression about three-fifths of segmental length. Pronotum wider than long, PL 0.46–0.48 mm, PW 0.56–0.58 mm, smooth. Profemora enlarged, protrochanters and protibiae lacking spur or spine, mesotibiae lacking denticle. Elytra wider than long, EL 0.88–0.90 mm, EW 0.90–0.93 mm, relatively smooth; subhumeral sulci long, reaching level of metacoxae. Abdomen wider than long, AL 0.48–0.50 mm, AW 0.83–0.85 mm; abdominal tergite IV (first visible tergite) with discal carinae extending to half of tergal length; abdominal sternite VII modified (Fig. 12 D), with apical lamina composed of two complicated sclerites. Length of aedeagus (Fig. 12 E) including parameres 0.47 mm, with right paramere long, curved mesally, internal sac bearing several sclerotized spines, lacking hairy sclerite.

Female. Similar to male; antennomere XI and profemora unmodified. Each eye composed of about 17 facets. Measurements: BL 2.04–2.16 mm, HL 0.44–0.46 mm, HW 0.40–0.43 mm, PL 0.40–0.43 mm, PW 0.50–0.53 mm, EL 0.75–0.80 mm, EW 0.84–0.87 mm, AL 0.45–0.48 mm, AW 0.79–0.83 mm.

Distribution. Eastern China: Anhui.

Etymology. The specific epithet ‘ mirus ’ means ‘strange, wonderful’, referring to the shape of the apical lamina of sternite VII.
