Lea (1926) described this species from three specimens, and he unequivocally designated a “Type” with the SAM registration number I.15472 (vide Article 73.1.1). It is presumably the female specimen considered as the holotype by Britton (1978) and is the one listed as the holotype by Houston & Weir (1992). The remaining two specimens in SAM were correctly considered as paratypes by Britton (1978) and Houston & Weir (1992).
