Type species (by monotypy): Trigonalys maculata Smith, 1851 .
Diagnosis. Antenna filiform with 21–26 antennomeres; supra-antennal elevations reduced, far separated; temple usually punctate; fore wing often with subapical dark patch; second metasomal sternite expanded, often with armature; third sternite never with projection or armature (Binoy et al. 2022).
Distribution. Widely distributed genus among all trigonalids. Most species are from eastern Asia and southern America and only one species is known from Europe (Carmean & Kimsey 1998).
