Subgenus Teratothyas s. str.

Diagnosis: Gnathosoma stout, L/W ratio <3.0, in lateral view with distinctly S-shaped ventral margin, not attached to a protrusible tube. Anterior idiosoma without unpaired platelet covering gnathosomal base.

Remarks: With the introduction of a new subgenus (see below), Teratothyas s. str. includes the species with the plesiomorphic character states of the mouthpart area, possibly as a paraphylum.
