LARGE-HEADED FLATBILL Ramphotrigon megacephalum

Bamboo forest specialist. Silva et al. (2015) first recorded this species in HFR, and TNM subsequently studied its foraging behaviour, which is focused exclusively on bamboo leaves and branches (Melo & Guilherme 2016). Density of R. megacephalum along a 10-km transect in the study area was estimated 1.5 individuals/km 2, with the species being exclusively recorded in areas of bamboo. In the 2018 study of mixed-species flocks, DPG considered R. megacephalum to be a constant in flocks led by Thamnomanes schistogynus .
