Paratypes: MBLUZ 154 (male), Cueva de Los Laureles, Socuy River (Limón River system, Lake Maracaibo Basin), municipio Jesús Enrique Lossada, Sierra de Perijá, Zulia State, Venezuela (10º 45’ 04.00” N, 72º 27’ 42.00” W), ± 610 m asl. 20 December 1990, Tito R[afael] Barros .

Remarks: this species name is a currently regarded as a junior synonym of Cryptobatrachus pedroruizi Lynch 2008 (Meza-Joya et al. 2021). The specimen is well protected and in good state of preservation.
