FIGURES 7Q–R, 12, 13
Amplirhagada montalivetensis – Solem, 1981: 305– 306, fig. 70d–f (not Helix (Hadra) montalivetensis Smith, 1894).
Type locality: Western Australia, Kimberley, Bonaparte Archipelago, West Montalivet Island (14°17′ 55.2″S, 125°13′17.3″E) .
Material examined (Table 1): Holotype WAM S42937 (dissected specimen) . Paratypes WAM S33028 (four preserved specimens), WAM S33008 (seven preserved specimens), WAM S33010 (eight preserved specimens), AM C.470985 (two preserved bodies) .
Etymology: For Jeremy Fitzpatrick, who collected the material and instigated the study in the Bonaparte Archipelago; noun in the genitive case.
Description: Shell (Fig. 7Q–R) broadly conical, with moderately elevated spire; periphery rounded to slightly compressed, transparent (Table 3). Teleoconch smooth with regular, fine axial ribs on upper sectors of whorls (less prominent on last whorl). Umbilicus 80–100% concealed by columellar reflection. Background colour light brownish crème with whitish base, with rather thin brown sub-sutural and mid-whorl bands, rarely bands blending into each other, covering upper part of shell in light brown suffusion; lip colour white (Table 4). Aperture simple, well slightly expanded, weakly reflected, with welldeveloped to weak basal node. Genital anatomy (Figs 12, 13). Penis tubular, long, straight; vas deferens entering penial sheath apically, penial retractor muscle short; penial verge moderate in length (1/4 length of penial chamber), pointed; inner penial wall with long, broad, regularly corrugated main pilaster, comprising more than posterior half of penial wall, segments supporting three rows of little hooks; posteriorly surface of inner penial wall with radial corrugations in continuation of main pilaster segmentation, with two indistinct corrugated longitudinal pilasters comprising entire length of penial wall; anterior end of inner penial with dense, distinct, roundish pustules. Vagina short (much shorter than penis), inflated; bursa copulatrix long, tubular, extending to anterior end of spermoviduct, with strongly inflated head.
Comparative remarks: This species was mistaken for A. montalivetensis by Solem (1981). For comparison with A. montalivetensis and A. ambulator see above; species differing most conspicuously in details of sculpture and overall size. Typical for the present species is the transparent shell with axial ribs on upper sector of whorls.
Distribution: West Montalivet Island only (Fig. 6).
