Genus Metrioidea Fairmaire, 1882

Metrioidea Fairmaire, 1882: 489 (type species Metrioidea signatipennis Fairmaire, 1882, by monotypy).

Remarks

Wilcox (1973) listed 14 New World species for this genus, distributed from the United States through Peru. However, similar to the situation with Luperodes, future taxonomic revision may eventually show that true Metrioidea does not occur in the New World . The genus was originally named from Fiji. The New World species currently included in the genus are hardly distinguishable from those currently in Lilophaea, Luperodes, and Monolepta .
