COMMENTS

The sequence falls inside the Lichinaceae, close to Lichina C.Agardh (data not shown).The position of this species inside the family is thus confirmed. As long as the type species of Synalissa, S. ramulosa (Hoffm. ex Berh.) Fr. has not yet been successfully sequenced (our recent attempts with fresh material from Belgium failed), this does not give additional information about the generic placement of S. mattogrossensis . The two species may or may not be closely related.
