Genetic data. BIN: BOLD:AAA9761 (n=5 from Ethiopia, n=9 from South Africa, Kenya, Yemen, Oman; maximum variation 0.7%). Nearest species: Z. anacantha (1.1%).

Distribution. Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Yemen (Fletcher 1974; Herbulot 1977; Fletcher 1978; Hausmann 2009).

Remarks. Male genitalia of Ethiopian populations with comparatively narrow valva (as characteristic for Z. latilimbata) but uncus narrow as shown in Aarvik & Bjørnstad (2007) for the new description of Z. ndogo . Since the latter was described based on one single male without information on the DNA barcode, nothing is known about variation. DNA barcodes (BOLD:AAA9761) support conspecificity of Z. latilimbata populations from both sides of the southern Red Sea. These populations probably do not differ taxonomically from the more northern populations of southernmost Egypt (type locality) and Eritrea (confirmed by dissection, see above).
