Type material examined. 1 ex. Holotype (HNM), card-mounted, genitalia mounted on glass slide pinned together with the specimen, “Holo- \ type” [round label with red border], “583” [handwritten], “Parua. \ Whangarei.“ [in Broun’s hand], New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “ Cyphon \ viridipennis ” [in Broun’s hand], “Holotype \ Cyphon viridipennis \ Broun \ det. T. Nyholm 1981” [in Nyholm’s hand].

Remarks. Broun (1880) studied a single specimen of this species, collected from Parua near Whangarei Harbour. According to Nyholm (2000) this species belongs to an undescribed genus.
