Lectotype (NHM, here validated): card-mounted, genitalia mounted on glass slide pinned together with the specimen, “LECTO- \ TYPE” [round label with blue border], “2032” [in Broun’s hand], “Waitakerei”, “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “ Cyphon \ ornatus ” [in Broun’s hand], “Lectotype \ Cyphon ornatus \ Broun \ det. T. Nyholm 1981” [in Nyholm’s hand]. Paralectotype (NHM, here validated): ventrally card-mounted, “PARA- \ LECTO- \ TYPE” [round label with blue border], “2032” [in Broun’s hand], “New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Remarks. Broun (1893) examined an unknown number of specimens collected from the Waitakere Range and near Tuakau.
