Type Locality: China, W Sichuan, Qionglai Shan, 30 mi (48 km) W Wenquan, 9000 ft (2743 m).

Vernacular Names: Marie's Vole.

Distribution: Qionglai Shan, W Sichuan, 2318-3660 m.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Lawrence (1982) located the type locality of V. musseri about 35 miles southwest from that of V. millicens, the two separated by the Chehshieh Shan. The 45 examples of V. musseri were trapped in the same lines as Neodon irene and Eothenomys melanogaster (Lawrence, 1982) .
